Barry Kiperman
February 8 – March 12, 2019
Opening Reception: February 9, 2019 from 4 - 6 p.m.
Howard Yezerski Gallery is pleased to present Barry Kiperman's multifaceted paintings as part of his solo exhibition, Systems. Kiperman’s primary passion is color and he draws inspiration from the work of Henri Matisse, Kenneth Noland, and Al Held. The compositional approach to his most recent Systems series draws from three-dimensional images of molecules. These images reveal that molecules are circular and are tethered together by connecting rods, creating a variety of configurations, flowing freely throughout the space they inhabit, enhanced and articulated by richly lyrical color. Interesting to note, the visual composition of these molecules exhibits an interesting similarity to the visual progression of musical notes one sees in sheet music, that denoting an allegro passage in a classical symphony.
Kiperman and his wife live in the Fort Point Channel area of Boston. His works are included in the collections of George Eastman Museum, International Center of Photography, Vero Beach Museum of Art, and the DeCordova Museum. His awards and honors include a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Fellowship Grant, a MA Arts & Humanities Fellowship Grant, and a Yale Fellowship to the Summer School of Music and Art.
Systems will be Barry Kiperman’s first exhibition at Howard Yezerski Gallery. Prior to Howard Yerzerski, Kiperman’s work has been exhibited at The Painting Center, OK Harris and Ceres Galleries in New York, at Bernard Toale and Vision Galleries in Boston, and at the Danforth and the DeCordova Museums.
