Monochrome Grids

November 16 – December 22, 2018

Opening Reception: November 17, 2018 from 2-5 pm

Howard Yezerski Gallery is pleased to present David Moore's seminal body of work, Monochrome Grids, a series that established the core substance from which all of his other work has emerged. Each painting begins with a solid ground of color onto which various patterns of vertical and horizontal lines are then repeatedly drawn, scored, and painted over for an extended period. This intuitive process continues until a high degree of saturation in color and gesture is reached with an unrelenting quality of rhythm, repetition, and nuance. By allowing the paintings to reveal themselves slowly, they provide for a deeper understanding of the emanation of light, the intensity of micro and macroscopic space, and the nature of infinity. The process of constant repetition emphasizes Moore’s belief that through a painting mantra and balance of subconscious and conscious poetic formalism an “abstract equilibrium” can be achieved.

Monochrome Grids will be David Moore's first exhibition at Howard Yezerski Gallery

Join us on Saturday, November 17th from 2-5 p.m. for the opening reception at:
