Best known for his photomontage works, John O’Reilly (1930 – 2021) has been a prominent figure in contemporary collage. For over 50 years O’Reilly worked with photographs, coloring books, art history books, gay porn, and magazine clippings to piece together provocative, highly conceptual works of art.
O’Reilly’s work was exhibited in the 1995 Whitney Biennial and has been collected by major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Addison Gallery of American Art among many others.
